Poldark – Potential new role?

BBC One, Jonas Armstrong, Poldark

jonas t4 icon I thought I’d wait to post about new BBC series Poldark until casting was officially confirmed, but as the articles keeps on flooding  my google alert inbox…

So what is the news?

The BBC have decided to remake the 1970′s series Poldark for a new audience, based on the saga novels by Winston Graham set in late 18th century Cornwall.

From the BBC press release:

Ross Poldark returns home from war, looking forward to a joyful reunion with his family and his beloved Elizabeth. Instead he discovers his father has died, his home is overrun by livestock and drunken servants, and Elizabeth, believing Ross dead, is engaged to his cousin. Ross must start from scratch, forging a completely new path for his life – one that takes him in exciting, unexpected and hazardous directions.

At this point the BBC and the production company Mammoth Screen (Endeavour, Parade’s End) are deciding who will play the lead Ross Poldark and several names keep on popping up: Eddie Redmayne, Matt Smith, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jonas Armstrong, Colin Morgan,… So it’s like a battle between Robin Hood vs Merlin vs DoctorWho ;)

Now to be honest they are all fantastic talented actors but since all the other fanbases are trooping support for their ‘leading man’ wouldn’t be quite right if we didn’t as well. So let’s keep our fingers crossed for Jonas to get the part! :D

I know Jonas just wrapped on The Whale, a non – fiction story set in 1820′s. But it would be fantastic so see him play in a historical drama again. I’m not familiar with Poldark but from the synopsis it reads like the Count of Monte Christo (could be entirely wrong!) not sure if revenge is involved at all but the romance aspect of it is very similar.

Anyways we’ll probably have to wait a bit longer to know the what, where and when and most importantly who?

Robin Hood – Jonas NOT in Once Upon a Time!

Jonas Armstrong, Once Upon a Time, Robin Hood, Tom Ellis

robinicon1 Right I hope @OnceABC will do something about this as they posted a HUGE poster on Facebook  promoting the fact we’ll soon see the character of Robin Hood appearing in next episode of Season 2. I really wouldn’t mind as ehy it’s my favorite TV Series together with Revenge among others…BUT they used a 2006 BBC promo of Jonas as yes you might have guessed it: Robin Hood!! *Facepalm*

So before I get lots of messages about this: it will be the lovely Tom Ellis (Gary from ‘Miranda’) who is playing the hero from Nottingham in Once Upon a Time. I’m sure he’ll be brilliant! :D

Really not sure who at ABC thought this would be a brilliant idea…

BBC, Jonas Armstrong, The Whale

jonas t4 icon Right first of all see the title with the stress on ‘Rumoured‘ new project! BUT anyhow if it does go ahead it will be rather brilliant! :D  UPDATE: NOW CONFIRMED!!

BBC One have confirmed making a new 90 minute TV drama called ‘The Whale’  based on the book The Loss of the Ship Essex, Sunk by A Whale and tells the story of the whaleship Essex which sunk in 1820. Basically this is the story that later inspired ‘Moby Dick’.

Along with Jonas Armstrong, his Robin Hood co-star Joe Armstrong is also mentioned as a member of the cast. It would be awesome to see them both together again on screen!

More info about it all read here:
http://www.tvwise.co.uk/2013/03/bbc-two-greenlights-the-loss-of-the-ship-essex-sunk-by-a-whale-adaptation/

We’ll have to wait and see if this happens to be true or not…Jonas has wrapped on All You Need is Kill and Walking with the Enemy is back into Post-Production. It says that filming will start soon, so potentially Jonas would be free to work on this. Fingers crossed everyone! :D

All You Need is Kill, Jonas Armstrong

All you Need is Kill starring Jonas Armstrong as ‘Skinner’ will be released a week earlier: on the 7th of March 2014. Furthermore you’ll be able to watch the movie in 3D (IMAX theatres).

Ok so here’s the thing guys, I get like up to 10 google alerts  a day about All You Need is Kill. But they are all about a certain TC and all the drama in his personal life, enough to make me weep in front of my keyboard at the boredom of it all! Honestly it’s seriously frustrating! :-(  So let’s hope Warner Bros. releases some genuine great info soon, like oh I don’t know…the background story of some of the other characters in the movie bar Mr. TC maybe?*sigh*

Update 24/11

Ok still no mention of Jonas but I do find all those army tanks in front of the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square quite interesting! (on set pics)

Believe it or not but this weekend we celebrate SIX yes 6 years of fandom! :D Robin Hood first aired on the 7th of October on BBC One back in good ol’ 2006; with Jonas Armstrong as the very charming, cheeky medieval hero (2006 – 2009). It was this following preview trailer promoting the series the week before (after Strictly Come Dancing) that got me hooked ;)

So not only do we celebrate the Robin Hood fandom, but also that of Jonas Armstrong! And what an incredible six years it’s been :D With projects like ‘The Street‘ and his first feature film ‘Book of Blood‘ to all of the following in 2012: the amazing ‘Prisoners’ Wives‘, the ground-breaking awesome ‘Hit and Miss‘ and the full on original and gritty ‘Twenty8k‘. It really has been tremendous fun to follow Jonas’ career so far, and see the portrayal of all these very different characters. Showcasing his ability to play an emblematic hero, an emotionally haunted soldier returning from Afghanistan, a confused boyfriend finding out his GF is transgender and the occasionally not so good guys… ;) Really enjoyed watching all of these performances & projects; and it’s great that the fun is set to continue with the latest announcement of ‘All You Need is Kill‘ set to be released in 2014.

Many congratulations & a huge thank you to Jonas for everything during the last six years! Wishing Jonas all the very best with what’s yet to come… :D

As a little treat, I made a Robin hood wallpaper (or with calendar for October), hope you guys like it! Nikki X

Oh and the movie also stars Emily Blunt & Bill Paxton…and Tom Cruise (I’m not exactly one of his biggest fans ;) )

Shooting has begun today at the ‘Harry Potter—’ sorry ‘Warner Bros. Studios’ at Leavesden in London. A release date has already been set for March 2014!
